Several Sloan-Hendrix students to part in the Arkansas Teenage Rodeo Association (ATRA) Year End Finals held Saturday, May 22 in El Paso, Arkansas. Their placements were

Jr Boys 11-14

  • Wyatt Mitchell - 4th place in the Chute Dogging / 20th place in All Around Cowboy

  • Stetson Wall - 2nd place in the Team Roping (heading) / 6th place in the All Around Cowboy

  • Hunter Mitchell - 8th place in the Team Roping (heeling) / 21st place in All Around Cowboy

Literacy Teacher Receives Award

Mrs. Valerie Matheny, a fifth grade literacy teacher at Sloan-Hendrix received the My Reason to Write Award because of her dedication to fostering student writing. Two of her students, Allie Carr and Alivia Sorg received recognition for their essays concerning vaping and smoking in the Project Prevent 2021 writing contest sponsored by Arkansas Children’s Hospital and the NEA Educational Co-op. Presenting the awards were Karen Davis and Libby Seftar.
